Hello Angels...

The meeting with the Legislature went well on January 12th and there will be a follow-up meeting on January 19th, 9am.  This information briefing will be held in Room 329 of the State Capital in Honolulu.  Last minute changes will be posted here so please check back.  You are invited to testify before the Legislators or provide a summary, in writing, regarding issues in your family court case.

SUMMARY NOTES:
  • If you would like your written testimony to be considered anonymous, please state this at the top and provide a reason as to why.  If signing anonymously, please be sure to contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so she can verify you're a "real" person.  She will connect your summary to your name and should the Legislators request it for some reason, you will be contacted first.
  • You do not need to include any contact information; only your name.
  • Do NOT use the name of your Child(ren).  You may not want to use last names. You can reference people in terms of roles (father, mother, GAL, judge, etc.)
  • These documents may be used in the public record which means anyone can access and some abusers and/or opposing side(s) in litigation have been able to present as evidence.
  • Make sure you use facts you can substantiate.
  • We know these are emotional issues but including emotional editorial only slows the process.  Please do your best to keep the summary "issue focused" (instead of person/case) and narrow the focus to the most egregious violations in your case.
  • Be respectful of the legislators.  They are willing to hear what you have to say and are making time for you.
  • Try to keep your summary to one page is possible.

  • If you wish, you can include a small picture with your testimony.

We have provided some Guidelines in order for you to be able to prepare your summary.  Whether you testify in front of the Legislators in person or not, it's a wise idea to consider the answers to the questions ahead of time and to also have several copies for the Legislators to review after the briefing.
