WASHINGTON — Families who have been successfully reunited with their children are being honored this weekend in the District of Columbia.

The D.C. Family Court and Child and Family Services Agency are hosting a Family Celebration Day on Saturday.

Retired NBA player Michael Smith is among those scheduled to attend and will play basketball with children.

D.C. court officials say more than 200 children who were in foster care or with relatives were reunified last year with their parents or guardians.
The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center at 1100 Michigan Avenue NE.
